Updating my studio with Roland FANTOM Workstation Synthesizer

Angel and the BEAST

My post on Roland FANTOM - Roland FANTOM Flagship Workstation Synthesizer Keyboard

Roland's way of putting together panels on synthesizers is logical, intuitive and easy to work with. All the controls are in the right places for performance ability. The controls are programmable and assignable for anything we want - offering extensive control over what we are doing and providing an incredibly flexible platform for sound design, studio work and live performance....

Roland FANTOM Flagship Workstation Synthesizer Keyboard

My article on Roland FANTOM - Updating my studio with Roland Fantom Workstation

Top Reasons to Buy the Roland Fantom! | Overview

4 partials per tone
Each partial has its own oscillator, filter, amplifier, envelopes, effects, 2 LFOs...
16 tones per scene (16 layered instruments simultaneously)

=> Each scene can have up to 64 oscillators and 128 LFOs!
(it has 4 chips to process and do all that heavy lifting without glitching or crackling - one chip dedicated entirely to V-Piano engine)

128 Scenes x 4 Banks => 512 scenes total

NOTE: Synthesizers have a meter reading showing when it is maxing out on memory. Well, Roland eliminated the meter from Fantom saying that it will never have the issue of maxing out on resources.

2GB internal memory to store our samples and tones.

iPad Pro Buying Guide

Confused whether to go for 11" or 12.9" iPad Pro?

I bought both these sizes in 2018, used them for over a month and evaluated their usabilities. I wrote a detailed article comparing both editions here -

Hope this helps...

What do you guys think and what are your experiences with these sizes?

PS: Apple seems to be working on a 12" iPad Pro this year. If this is real, more work for developers again optimizing their apps -

    Building Blocks by Audible Genius
Online Music Production & Composition Course

    Modernized Music Theory
Along with interactive ear training, the Building Blocks online music production course covers relevant and useful aspects of music theory. And rather than use the centuries-old music staff, lessons take place in the Note Grid.

Learning ear training and music theory in the Note Grid is crucial for software-based musicians. Our Note Grid is modeled after the Piano Roll, a note editing interface found in today's most popular DAWs. You'll be learning how to compose music in the same environment that you use to create music.

There'll be no need to translate the theory you've learned from music staff to DAW. Instead, everything you learn will be immediately applicable to your every-day music-making process.

    Building Blocks Comes to iPad!

    It's time to get tapp'in and swip'in...

You can now tap your way through Building Blocks mouse-free! Just open Safari on your iPad running iOS 14.5 or later, go to and start tapping away!

P.S. BB is also compatible with Chrome for iOS for you Chrome die-hards.

(When I saw this marketing message, I thought it was a native iPadOS app. Better than nothing, haha πŸ˜‚)

    Performance Improvements
In our quest for iPad compatibility we made a bunch of improvements to the audio engine. So if you've been experiencing any audio glitches, yell "glitches be gone!!!" at your device and I'll bet dollars-to-donuts the audio won't glitch anymore.

However, in case it does still glitch we also added a "Reduce CPU" mode that will help de-glitchify the audio even further! While in any challenge, open the DAW Settings via the top right arrow button and you'll see the Reduce CPU button at the bottom. NOTE: The visual animation may become a little delayed in Reduce CPU mode. Such is life, a series of trade-offs. - Shakespeare (probably)
